Poly Strapping for Packaging
Poly strapping is becoming very popular in the packaging industry as a strong and sturdy material on par with steel. Industry users are switching over to poly strapping as it is proving to be an ideal strapping substitute for steel. Poly strapping has proved its mettle in more ways that is a strong and dependable material for packaging and is now here to stay.
The manufacturing of polyester strapping is in a very energy efficient manner. It can also be recycled and this is a great advantage in using poly strapping. There are more advantages than disadvantages in using poly strapping. This is a more flexible material than steel, however it can allow for shifting weight while being transported.

Poly strapping comes in many different sizes and widths. It works well with manual tools and pneumatic tools and is used in aluminum, lumber and steel processing industries. This is approved for use on the railroad also. The 1.25” by .050 inch has a 3,800 pound break strength and is used in heavy duty applications. This strapping is preferred as it has great elongation and recovery. This strapping is ideal to replace 1.25” steel strapping and is considered the strongest PET strap.
The advantage of this poly strapping is that it has no sharp edges and there is no risk of injury while using it. The cost of this strapping is 1/3rd less than steel strapping and up to 50% less than cord strapping. A seal or buckle is not necessary while using this strapping. Poly strapping can be used with different kinds of tools and for varied applications.
There are several brands of tools like Signode, Fromm and Orgapack that manufacture tools to accommodate different sizes of poly strapping. These tools are very useful in applying the poly strapping effectively to package goods of different shapes and sizes. There are battery operated tools also that package efficiently using poly strapping.
